This would certainly be an ideal scenario: not only did the remote make aiming more intuitive, but its motion capability turned the game into one of the most immersive experiences on the platform. If the console is compatible with the Wii Remote as some rumors claim (or if it features its own remote-like controller), then it would be safe to say the game’s controls will not be all that dissimilar from those found in Corruption. Whether or not the game is actually in development will not be known for certain until the company’s press conference at E3 in a couple of weeks, but until then we take a look at some of the possible directions a fourth Metroid Prime may take.ĭiscussing the title’s controls in any length would be a misspent endeavor, as without an idea of what Project Café’s controller actually looks like, it would be almost impossible to predict with any sort of accuracy. A fourth Prime would be the perfect solution to this problem and would also help entice core gamers into purchasing its next home console. This, I think, seems far more feasible than any of the other games commonly listed as possibilities: with Other M proving to be a critical and commercial disaster (though some more reputable outlets disagree with this sentiment), it is likely Nintendo would want to rectify this misstep and appease any fans it may have alienated. This combination of harsh conditions, dangerous enemies, and a particularly vicious boss allow this area to be considered the most difficult in the Metroid franchise.You may have heard the rumors that Retro Studios’ next project is a game “everyone wants to do.” Of course, this statement will mean something different to everyone who reads it, but the first title to immediately spring to my mind was a new Metroid Prime. After two passes through the area to locate various items, Samus will eventually fight the boss, Nightmare. Furthermore, Samus will take constant damage in this area if she does not have the Varia suit, which will insulate her. However, this area is still dangerous when it is returned to later on. In early encounters, Samus must fight through obstacles including the invincible SA-X, a doppelganger of Samus formed by the X parasite. Samus confronts this area multiple times in a playthrough of Metroid Fusion. This comes to a head in the Sub-Zero containment area of the BSL Station, a facility plagued with the X parasite. In F usion, Samus was hybridized with Metroid DNA to protect her from the insidious X parasite, giving her a new weakness to cold temperatures and much less defense. While there are ways to destroy EMMI's, avoiding them is often her only option, and at this early point in Metroid Dread, Samus has no method to sneak by the fearsome robots, until she defeats the area's boss, a stealthy predator, and one of the game's more difficult adversaries, Corpius. While Samus will return to Artaria multiple times through her journeys through Planet ZDR, the tense moments in the early portions of the game, where Samus is underpowered and outmatched, vault it to its place as one of the most difficult in the series.Īs one of the most linear games in this franchise, Metroid Fusion compensates with more difficult encounterst. Artaria is where players are first introduced to the mechanics of this game, including the terrifying EMMI's, corrupted survelliance robots who will relentlessly hunt Samus through the areas they patrol. ![]() After Samus is defeated by a mysterious Chozo on the planet ZDR, she must find a way to reach her gunship on the surface of the planet. While Metroid Dread has only been out for a short time, it has already garnered a reputation for its difficulty, and this can be seen as early as the first area, Artaria.
